The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser Arrives, Revealing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors

Nintendo alongside Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a Nintendo-focused broadcast that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.

Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the distant reaches of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

An Interstellar Journey Drawing from Classic Games

Similar to the games from the Wii period that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some familiar faces, for instance the Luma, a popular character from the previous film.

But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Interestingly, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow

The feature will welcome back of the original voice cast, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

Mario's Major Moment

The new Mario movie is set to release close to the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a important time for Mario and his friends.

Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles already confirmed for that year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Premiere Date Announced

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
