A chopper flying over a crowded southern California beach unexpectedly started spinning wildly, finally dropping height and smashing into a row of palm fronds as beachgoers looked on.
Videos uploaded on the internet show the aircraft commencing to spiral over Huntington Beach then falling in the direction of the border of the shore, where it becomes wedged amidst palm groves and a steps close to the shoreline route.
Emergency Response Update
Emergency responders stated five individuals were rushed to the hospital including a pair who were in the helicopter and were “extracted safely from the crash site” after the accident on Saturday.
Three people on the pavement were harmed. Information on their injuries were not immediately available.
The cause of the crash was still under investigation.
